Every car over three years old needs an annual MOT test to confirm it meets the minimum road safety and environmental standards. At AVS Bransgore, we carry out MOT tests on cars, vans, and light commercials from our fully equipped workshop on Ringwood Road, just minutes from Christchurch, Burley, and the wider New Forest area.

We are an authorised MOT testing station with experienced, DVSA-approved testers. Unlike some garages, we will never fail your vehicle on something that does not genuinely need attention. If we spot an advisory item, we will explain it clearly and let you decide when to address it — no pressure, no upselling.

What Does an MOT Test Cover?

The MOT is a comprehensive check of your vehicle's safety, roadworthiness, and exhaust emissions. The test covers over 100 individual checks including lights, steering, suspension, brakes, tyres, seatbelts, windscreen, wipers, exhaust system, and emissions. For diesel vehicles, this includes a strict emissions test that checks your DPF is functioning correctly.

The test typically takes around 45 minutes to an hour. You are welcome to wait in our reception area, or if you prefer, we can arrange a courtesy car so you can carry on with your day while we take car We are open Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm for MOT testing and all workshop services. Please note that Saturdays and Sundays are Sales Only — MOT testing and workshop services are not available at weekends. Book your MOT online or call us Monday to Friday.

What Happens If My Car Fails?

If your vehicle fails its MOT, we will give you a clear explanation of what needs fixing and provide a fair, transparent quote for the repair work. There is no obligation to have the work done with us, but most customers choose to because our prices are competitive and we can usually carry out the repairs the same day or the next morning.

Once the repairs are completed, we retest the vehicle free of charge within 10 working days. If the failure was on a minor item, we may be able to issue a pass with an advisory note instead, saving you time and money.

MOT Pricing

Our MOT test is competitively priced at the DVSA maximum fee of £54.85 for Class 4 vehicles (cars and light vans). Class 7 MOTs for larger vans are also available. We do not charge extra for retests when repairs are carried out at our workshop. Many customers combine their MOT with an annual service to save time — ask us about our MOT and service packages.
